    2024 East Texas Yamboree Queen named in Gilmer

    GILMER, Texas ( KETK ) – Over in Gilmer, the 2024 East Texas Yamboree Queen has been named. Queen Elect Katie Ella Henson, was chosen by the Twentieth Century Club as one of seven high school juniors to in this year’s Yamboree Queen’s Race.

    Each of the contestants competed across 12 days to raise the most money for the Yamboree’s many events and scholarships but only one could take the crown.

    “I’m very excited, this is a moment I’ve looked forward to since I was a little girl. And as my sisters and my cousins were queen, I’ve just wanted to be like them when I was little. And it’s just a dream come true,” said Henson.

    Henson is a member of FFA, FCA, student council and the varsity cheerleading team at Harmony High School. Katie has been in the court of several Yamboree Queens and two of her relatives served as past Yamboree Queens as well.

    The East Texas Yamboree fun, including a livestock show, carnival and more, will start up on Oct. 16 in Gilmer.
