    Skillet Breakfast Pizza

Today, I would like to introduce to you all my mouthwatering Skillet Breakfast Pizza! This unique dish is sure to bring your family together for a delicious meal. Picture this: country sausage gravy as the sauce, scrambled eggs, and cheese all piled on top of a homemade country-style biscuit crust. It's simply irresistible and a definite favorite in my family. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this breakfast pizza!

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup of self-rising flour, plus 2 tablespoons for the gravy
    • 1/4 cup of cold butter
    • 1/3 cup of evaporated milk for the dough, plus 1 cup of evaporated milk for the gravy
    • 1/2 pound of country sausage
    • 6 eggs, scrambled
    • 1 cup shredded pepperjack cheese
    • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

    Instructions:

In a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of self-rising flour, cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the 1/3 cup of evaporated milk until a soft dough forms. Press the dough into a well-greased skillet to form the crust. Set aside.

Cook the country sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Sprinkle it with flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in 1 cup of evaporated milk and cook until thickened. Season the gravy with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to your preferred taste. Stir well and set aside.

In a separate skillet, scramble the eggs until cooked through. Set aside.

Place the skillet on the stovetop over low heat and cover with a lid. Cook for about 15 minutes, or until the bottom of the crust has browned, then flip the crust over with a spatula. Add an additional small amount of butter or canola oil in the skillet, if needed, but lift the crust up while you add it.

Spoon the gravy over the biscuit dough crust. Then spread the scrambled eggs over the sausage gravy layer in the skillet.

Sprinkle the shredded pepperjack cheese over the top of the skillet. The cheese is needed to hold the toppings in place. You can also use any type of cheese that you'd prefer. I chose to use shredded pepperjack cheese because the flavor pairs well with the gravy.

Place the lid back on the skillet. Cook on low heat for about 15 minutes longer, or until the crust has browned and the cheese is melted.

Alternatively, you can bake the pizza in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

    Slice, serve, and enjoy!
