Altrusa Hosts 4th Annual Golf Tournament
The 4th Annual Altrusa Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, July 13. The corporate sponsor of the tournament is Mueller Waterworks/Pratt Division. Nineteen 4-person teams competed in the 18-hole scramble event. The golf tournament raised over $9,000 to go toward Altrusa projects including SOS, scholarships, literacy and various other local projects.

LAWRENCE — Kansas football’s offense in 2024 will feature a lot of players worth keeping track of. There’s redshirt junior quarterback Jalon Daniels, as well as a running back duo of senior Devin Neal and redshirt junior Daniel Hishaw Jr. There’s the wide receiver trio of seniors Luke Grimm, Lawrence Arnold and Quentin Skinner. WASHINGTON − U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern recently named Brian Pearl, a native of Canton, Mo., as the agency’s deputy director. Pearl graduated from Canton R-V High School. He will serve in the agency’s second highest-ranking position as its chief operating officer. In addition to other responsibilities, Pearl will oversee GPO’s operations division, which includes plant operations, security and intelligent documents, official journals of government and customer services. These business units are responsible for GPO’s most important products including the U.S. passport, Congressional Record, Federal Register, White House print materials, secure federal credentials and other congressional and executive branch products and services.

Isolated storms Monday, getting hotter this week
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Meteorologist Peyton Sanders says that isolated storms will be possible for parts of Kansas on Monday as temperatures get warmer for the week ahead. It will be a mild start to the day on Monday with morning low temperatures in the low to mid 60s. Afternoon highs will reach the mid 80s.

We remain in a pattern supportive of rain chances but not quite ready to do much about it. A few showers have hung around overnight especially south of Wichita, but most of Kansas remains dry. Temperatures today will remain much cooler than average, peaking in the low to middle 80s.
