Royals place veteran pitcher on release waivers
The Royals have released veteran right-hander Jordan Lyles, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com. Should he pass through waivers unclaimed, he will become a free agent in the coming days. Lyles, 33, was placed on the restricted list back in April due to an undisclosed personal matter. Per Rogers, Lyles reported to the organization last month, opening up a 30-day window for him to either be added back to the roster or released. Saturday was day 30 of that window, prompting the right-hander’s placement on release waivers.
FIRST WARN FORECAST: Spotty showers Sunday, cooler the next few days
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Good news! We were able to take both First Warns off on Sunday and Monday, meaning we are trending a bit drier than previously expected. I still think that Sunday will have a 30% confidence in a few light showers, but the activity looks super spotty and not overly heavy. You might encounter a few raindrops from time to time on Sunday, but I think outdoor plans will be okay for the most part. Highs stay in the lower 80s with moderate humidity. Same thing on Monday, I have a 30% confidence in a few light showers/maybe a stray rumble. No significant rain chances in the next seven days. We will however return to more of a summer feel. Mid-80s midweek with upper 80s expected late this next week and into next weekend to wrap out the end of July. I am starting to see signs of early August trending hotter. Something worth watching. Morning lows over the next week will at least stay in the 60s for a refreshing start to each day!
Angela Bates, Founder/Director, Nicodemus Historic Society, on the Black township founded in 1877
Angela Bates is the organizer and founder of the Nicodemus Historical Society. She has achieved the vision of a community organization that would collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Nicodemus in collections including historic photos, documents, and objects. Since 1988 when she first envisioned the organization, she was handed the preservation baton from her great cousin and former NFL football player Veryl Switzer. In 1996 her efforts to get Nicodemus designated a unit of the National Park Service were finally achieved. After 30 years of hard work, she continues to pursue efforts that contribute to her legacy as an honored steward of her hometown Nicodemus.
Chiefs two-time Super Bowl champ a potential release candidate?
As the Chiefs navigated their post-Tyreek Hill offense, the front office sought reinforcement at the receiver position. One of the team’s most notable WR acquisitions was Kadarius Toney, who the Chiefs acquired from the Giants midway through the 2022 campaign. While Toney has won a pair of Super Bowl rings during his year-plus in Kansas City, the wideout hasn’t lived up to the billing. Now, with only a year remaining on his rookie contract, it’s uncertain if he’ll even reach the 2024 campaign with the Chiefs.

SOURCE SPORTS: Kansas City Royals’ Tyler Tolbert Shares His Dirty South-Centered Playlist Courtesy Of Black Baseball Mixtape
This week’s exclusive playlist comes from the versatile Tyler Tolbert, the multi-purpose player drafted by the Kansas City Royals organization back in 2019. The 26-year-old plays multiple positions, including second base and shortstop in the infield and has proven to be a stellar center fielder in the outfield. He’s played next to the likes of Maikel Garcia in Single-A ball and Michael Massey in High-A, so the Royals have had him pegged all 2024 as the next on deck.
