Missouri Governor’s Cup Wine Competition awards announced
The winners of the 2024 Missouri Governor’s Cup Wine Competition have been announced, with Stone Hill Winery’s 2022 Cross J Norton taking home the top prize. The contest was held in Columbia on July 10-11, and 239 wines were entered in this year’s competition, according to organizers. Eight judges from across the U.S. spent two days blind testing the submissions and awarded 35 gold, 124 silver and 56 bronze medals.
Smoke continues to billow from smoldering Shawnee landfill
SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) - While smoke may still be seen billowing from a landfill in Shawnee, crews have been working throughout the day to extinguish the blaze. The Shawnee, Kansas, Fire Department says that just after 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, emergency crews were called to the landfill at 17955 Holliday Dr. with reports of a fire.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Sunday and Monday are trending drier than expected so the First Warns have been dropped! I am still expecting a few isolated showers this morning into this evening but most areas will stay dry! Temperatures will remain below average, but this trend doesn’t last long. Please get outside and enjoy it! We will be in the upper 70s and low 80s once again today with most sunshine this afternoon. For most of this week, the pattern remains tranquil with very low chances for showers. The temperatures will be rebounding to average by the end of the work week. Looking ahead from the Climate Predication Center, the pattern turns out for the end of July in August with temperatures in the 90s trying to push triple digits again.
