A traffic stop in Glasgow led to the arrest of two Elkton, Md., residents on drug charges.

The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. July 23 on Pulaski Highway near the Maryland state line, according to Delaware State Police.

A trooper on patrol saw a Dodge Avenger with expired tags make an improper lane change and, a few minutes later, speed out of a Wawa parking lot. The car then turned unto a Walgreens parking lot, where a trooper conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, 42-year-old Brandon Wright, immediately got out of the vehicle and refused commands to get back in, police said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police also arrested the passenger, who refused to provide her name. Authorities later identified her as 38-year-old Jaclyn Ortega, who was wanted on a capias from Justice of the Peace Court 11.

Police searched the car and found a bag of crack cocaine and a broken glass pipe with burn marks.

Wright and Ortega were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wright was also charged with multiple traffic violations.

Wright was jailed after failing to post $8,300 secured bond. Ortega was released on her own recognizance.
