The Glasgow Board of Aldermen agreed at Monday night’s meeting to set up a text alert system for residents.

City administrator Robert Snider tells KMMO News that the board received positive feedback to the idea of establishing a system to text residents emergency alerts and other updates on city happenings. Snider says the city plans to use Textcaster, and residents will have the opportunity to opt onto the texting list.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, the board approved the schedule for receiving bids to relocate utilities along Route 5 at the Bear Creek Bridge, ahead of a project by the Missouri Department of Transportation to replace the bridge. Bids are due to Glasgow City Hall by 10 a.m. on August 7th. Snider says aldermen may consider meeting in special session to open and review bids prior to Glasgow’s next regularly scheduled meeting, Aug. 12th.
