Fight to the Finish fundraiser helps recovering Glen Dale resident

GLEN DALE, W.V. (WTRF) — Next Sunday Kathy’s House Foundation is hosting Fight to the Finish, a fundraising event for Glen Dale local, Frank Gilbert.

After a scaffolding accident last summer, Frank has been spending his time rehabilitating at the Shepperd Center in Atlanta.

In order to help Frank get to the finish line of his treatment, community members can participate in a 5k, enjoy food and live music, or donate during the event.

“I mean he’s been everywhere, his accident occurred when he was in Wheeling helping somebody else. The Valley is a special place and Frank’s been special to this Valley.”

“He can support almost 62% of his body weight now. His time is short, our moneys running out, we need to raise enough money to get him another month or six weeks at the Shepard Center to get him across the finish line.”

Frank’s Fight to the Finish will take place on Sunday the 27 at St. Jude Park. The 5k will start at 12 p.m. and the event will kick off at 1 p.m.
