Even in the extreme heat of a Washington, DC summer, the haunting melodies of Giacomo Puccini’s “La bohème” have the power to transport listeners to a freezing Parisian flat whose youthful and impoverished inhabitants are struggling to make art amidst punishing winter temperatures. Based on the book by Henri Murger, “The Bohemians of the Latin Quarter,” “La bohème” is an opera in four acts that explores themes of friendship, poverty, and enduring love. This production was led by Grammy Award-winning conductor, Grant Gershon and the capable musicians of the Wolf Trap Orchestra.
