Projected Glencoe Golf Club timeline: approval by September, demo by October, completion by 2026

The Glencoe Golf Club gave an updated timeline for its renovation project during the Glencoe Village Board’s Committee of the Whole meeting on Thursday, June 20.

In March 2024, the golf club began laying out a plan to renovate the clubhouse. The project has moved along steadily since, officials said, collecting permits and collaborating with designers, the village and recently the Forest Preserve District of Cook County.

Manager of Glencoe Golf Club Stella Nanos said the new clubhouse will be LEED Silver Standard and one of the most sustainable buildings in the community.

She shared that the club plans to have a demolition-and-early-scope package ready for board approval in August. From there, club officials will collect bids for the project and present them to the board by mid-September. They expect demolition to commence on Oct. 1 and aim to have a 13-month construction window, finishing work at the end of 2025.

Nanos emphasized the importance of staying on schedule, as shifts will affect their budget. As of the June 20 meeting, the updated estimated budget is $18.64 million. She also outlined that the project has received $1.13 million from the Friends of the Glencoe Golf Club fundraising efforts.

Plans to renovate the clubhouse have been underway since April 2023, when Glencoe voters approved a referendum allowing the Village to use up to $15 million in bond sales to fund the project.

Nanos previously told the board that the clubhouse is still in its original building on the 101-year-old golf course and surpassed its useful life in 2012.

As of now, the club plans to keep the pro shop open so that the course can operate normally. The team’s next steps include getting the necessary permits from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and continuing to move on time to start construction in October.
