GLENCOE, Okla. ( KFOR ) – A Glencoe woman has extra special ties to the original Twister movie, and now the sequel, Twisters.

She’s been in both moves. You may recognize her in the trailer sitting next to Glen Powell.

“I was like ‘A movie in 1995 in Ponca City? That’s a hoax,'” said April Warren.

You might know Warren better as the mom standing in debris during the original Twister movie.

“The storm chasers kind of nickname me the ‘Flashback Mom,'” said Warren.

Back in the 90’s, Warren almost didn’t sign up to be an extra and definitely did not expect a call back.

“Then one night, I get home and there’s a message on my answering machine, and it says, ‘We want you to come to Wakita,'” said Warren. “It was amazing. I got to be in the makeup trailer with Helen Hunt, and I got to meet Bill Paxton.”

Memorabilia from the movie are found everywhere in her home, like pictures, newspaper, clippings, books, her ticket to the premiere, and an original call sheet.

“Call sheet tells like when to pick the actors up and where they’re going,” said Warren.

Fast forward more than 25 years, her friend convinced her to give it another whirl.

This time, Warren sat next to Glen Powell on the bleachers.

“I told him that I was in the original. I started showing him the pictures. He gets on the walkie talkie and says, Isaac [the director], can you come up here?” said Warren. “And he offered his hand and shook my hand and said, ‘It’s an honor to meet you.'”

Warren laughed at the difference between her roles. In the original, she was standing in the aftermath of the tornado. In the sequel, she’s running around in the action.

“I’m drinking a beer The can stayed with me the whole time I’m running,” said Warren. “If you’re in Oklahoma running from a tornado, you never drop your beer.”

Warren isn’t sure if her running around with the beer made it into the movie. She is planning to see it this weekend.

Warren has been an extra in other movies, like “13 Minutes.” She’s next to a sign on the ground that says “The finger of God” which is a line from the original Twister.
