Downtown Glendale businessman plants flags for Memorial Day

Coit Burner from Bears & More has installed more than 250 flags all around the Catlin Court Retail District in downtown Glendale.

The flags will be on display all weekend for Memorial Day.

This is a heartfelt annual project which Burner has done for several years. Inspired by Ron Brewster, who grew up in the home that is now The Spicery in Our 1895 Home.

Brewster visited with Bears & More several years ago. The 30-year shop was once home to Brewster's aunt. Brewster shared with Coit and Valerie Burner stories about the day World War II ended which has inspired the display of flags. The flags are purchased from the American Legion and the proceeds go to the local chapter.

The public is invited to make Catlin Court in downtown Glendale a stop this weekend. The flags are a reminder about honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
