    Author, teacher at Glendale school earns Selah Award

    Highland Lakes School ELA teacher Jennifer Deibel, won first place in the historical romance category. for her novel "The Maid of Ballymacool," at The 2024 Selah Awards.

    Presented on May 29 in Ridgecrest, N.C., The Selah Awards is a US-based writing competition for Christian books run by the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference.

    The awards are entered by manytraditional publishers and works are judged on merit alone. More than 600 entries were received in 36 genres.

    Jennifer Deibel has taught middle school ELA in the Deer Valley Unified School District for eight years. She is the author of "A Dance in Donegal," "The Lady of Galway Manor" and "The Maid of Ballymacool."

    Her work has appeared on (in)courage, on The Better Mom, in Missions Mosaic magazine, and others. After nearly a decade of living in Ireland and Austria, she now lives in Arizona with her husband and their three children. Her work is online at www.jenniferdeibel.com .
