Sports Betting is Back in Washington DC
Well, the wait wasn’t long for Washington DC residents who briefly lost their ability to make sports bets yesterday. This was due to an issue with gaming licenses and a planned expansion of their availability. Unfortunately, the expansion was delayed because it was attached to the 2025 fiscal budget for DC, which required Mayor Muriel E. Bowser to sign it to go into effect. The proposed budget was presented to Mayor Bowser on Monday, July 15th but said budget was refused. However, several parts were upheld one of which was the expansion of the sports betting operator license.
