The Georgia Court of Appeals has denied an appeal by Western Circuit District Attorney Deborah Gonzales who sought to dismiss a suit filed in 2023 that alleged she was not complying with state law in regards to carrying out her responsibilities as an elected prosecutor. CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - As of Monday, the single-use plastic bag ban with an updated ban on thick plastic bags within the City of Charleston is in effect. The city and others surrounding it began looking at single-use bag laws years ago to protect the environment. Charleston’s original ordinance took effect in 2020.

Dead Fish being reported in Chattooga River after Ammonia Spill
An ammonia spill at Mount Vernon Mills, located in Trion, Georgia, forced evacuations of nearby residents on June 26th. Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas stated the source of that leak was a transfer truck that was bringing ammonia to the mill. The truck driver went through protocol for a spill – and called Chattooga 9-1-1. Exactly how that spill occurred was NOT made clear immediately.
