Beloved member of Eugene’s Black Community dies at 78
Lyllye Reynolds-Parker, a well-loved member of the Eugene community, died Thursday night. The news was shared by her niece in a Facebook post. Reynolds-Parker grew up in Eugene. She was born at Sacred Heart Hospital, and may have been the first Black child born there, according to the University of Oregon.

HIGH HUMIDITY AND RAIN LIMITED SPREAD ON HOMESTEAD COMPLEX
High humidity and rain limited fire spread on the Homestead Complex on Friday. The fire, burning in the Umpqua National Forest, is at 5,898 acres and is 40 percent contained. A UNF update said remote automatic weather stations near the fires recorded between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch of rain during a 24-hour period, which brought the 48-hour total to over 1 inch. This precipitation will not fully extinguish the fires on the complex but will cause a significant delay in the use of tactical firing.
