With inflation driving up meat prices, it might just be the perfect time to lean into those veggies. According to a study by The Vegetarian Resource Group, around 6 percent of U.S. adults are vegan or vegetarian, which equates to over 15.7 million people.

In a new study by WalletHub, they have discovered which cities are making this lifestyle more achievable. Los Angeles is holding it down at number one, no surprise there. The West Coast continues to lead the way in health-conscious lifestyles, and LA has options for days.

Right behind LA is Orlando, and who knew Mickey Mouse’s hometown had so much love for the plant-based crowd? Portland rounds out the top three, with its well-known commitment to all things organic and eco-friendly.

The report compared 100 major U.S. cities based on factors like the cost of vegetarian groceries, the number of salad shops, and the share of restaurants offering meatless meals. San Diego and Seattle are also popping off for the plant-based fam, with endless vegan spots and affordable grocery options.

For those in the South, Atlanta and Miami are solid contenders, ranking 16th and 8th respectively. ATL is catching up with a growing number of vegan restaurants, and Miami is flexing with the most salad shops per capita.

There were also some other interesting takeaways. Scottsdale, Arizona, has the highest percentage of restaurants with vegan options—nearly 60 times more than North Las Vegas. Meanwhile, San Francisco boasts the most community-supported agriculture programs, which is perfect for those who like their produce extra fresh.
