Rhode Island Man Sentenced to Two Years for False Bomb Threat on Orlando to Providence Flight
A Rhode Island man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison after causing a false alarm on an airplane with claims of a bomb onboard, which turned out to be a hoax. Evan Sims, 41, was handed the sentence by U.S. District Judge Harvey E. Schlesinger, followed by a subsequent three-year term of supervised release; Sims has also been ordered to reimburse Breeze Airways $25,478 in restitution, as indicated in a press release on the Department of Justice website.

Federal prosecutors accused Michael Brier, 61, of ripping off patients by cutting short addiction recovery appointments, and of ripping off the federal government by over-billing millions of dollars for appointments that were cut short or never happened.

Stop & Shop announced it is closing 32 underperforming stores in the Northeast as part of efforts to improve its financial future. “Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand,” the chain’s president Gordon Reid said in a news release on July 12.
