End of an era: Former Phi Delta Theta House set to be demolished
The former Phi Delta Theta House, one of the most iconic buildings on campus, will be torn down after years of being plagued by structural and mechanical issues. Built in 1914 at a cost of $17,000, the house overlooking the 50-yard line at Frank Bailey Field has been largely vacant since 2012 after the chimney collapsed and the boiler malfunctioned.

A number of tri-state area residents reported feeling a shaking or hearing a loud boom Tuesday morning leading to quite the mystery. NASA is estimating a meteor passed through the area between 10 a.m. and noon and would account for people saying they saw a fireball in the sky. NASA said simultaneous military activity in the area may account the shaking or boom residents felt.
Secret Camera Installed in Bathroom at Upstate New York CVS
An Upstate New York man has been arrested after being accused of installing a recording device in a CVS Pharmacy bathroom. A CVS Pharmacy manager from Schenectady, New York was arrested, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, after police say he installed a recording device in the employees-only bathroom at the CVS store located at 2801 Guilderland Ave. Rotterdam, New York.

Five injured after juveniles crash into CDTA bus
Five people had minor injuries after police said juveniles driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a CDTA bus in Albany. The crash happened just after 10 a.m. Monday, July 15 at the intersection of Quail Street and Sherman Street. The occupants of the vehicle left the scene, Albany Police said.

Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.

Nearly 3,000 residences and businesses were without power in the Ballston and Virginia Square area Monday evening. That was according to Dominion’s outage map at 6:45 p.m. It’s unclear what caused the outage, which was also affecting parts of the Ashton Heights neighborhood.
