Dollar Tree sells all of your everyday essentials year-round, but it also has a large selection of party supplies, balloons and seasonal decorations for every holiday and occasion. Most items cost between $1.25 and $5, and you may even find a better deal than at other retailers like Walmart.
Walmart may sell a greater variety of American Flags, but if you’re just looking for a decorative flag for Labor Day, you’ll find cheaper prices at Dollar Tree. For example, a pack of three miniature flags is $1.25 at Dollar Tree and a pack of four miniature flags is $2.32 at Walmart. This comes to 42 cents per flag at Dollar Tree and 58 cents at Walmart.
Unless you only need a plain plastic table cover, then you’ll find lower prices for patriotic designs at Dollar Tree. These 54-inch by 108-inch patriotic table covers and metallic covers are only $1.25 at Dollar Tree, while similar items at Walmart are $2 or more.
Getting together with family and friends and grilling is one of the most popular ways to celebrate Labor Day. Dollar Tree sells almost every grilling tool, including stainless steel tongs , spatulas and barbecue forks for $1.25 each. You can find individual grilling tools or sets at Walmart, but they typically cost much more. For instance, a stainless steel spatula at Walmart ($5) is 300% more expensive than Dollar Tree.
Banners and Buntings
You can decorate your home and yard with patriotic decor even on a budget . If you’re looking for the lowest prices, Dollar Tree definitely beats Walmart. This 23-inch by 12-inch patriotic bunting is only $1.25 at Dollar Tree, while a similar item is $16.97 at Walmart for a pack of four, or $4.24 each. You can also find flag banners at both retailers. Walmart’s banners are higher in quality than Dollar Tree’s foil banners , but even the lowest price at Walmart is $5.29. While Walmart’s pack of banners is longer, you can buy three for a total of $3.75 at Dollar Tree for a similar length.
Patriotic Plastic Cups
You can find a pack of eight, 16-ounce patriotic tumblers at Dollar Tree for $1.25. Walmart doesn’t sell the exact same item, but a similar pack comes with 25 for $13.89. This comes out to 56 cents per cup at Walmart, and 16 cents per cup at Dollar Tree.
If you’re going to be grilling, you can’t forget to stock up on condiments. Walmart may have a greater variety, but Dollar Tree is much cheaper. A 17.5-ounce bottle of Bull’s Eye Everyday Honey BBQ sauce at Dollar Tree is $1.25, and the same bottle is $8.99 at Walmart.
Hot Dog and Hamburger Buns
Dollar Tree’s hot dog and hamburger buns from Gold Medal Bakery aren’t much cheaper than Walmart’s Great Value prices, but they’re still a better deal. At Dollar Tree, you’ll only pay $1.25 each for a pack of eight buns, whereas at Walmart, it’ll cost you $1.46.
Pool Essentials
Most pools stay open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, so this may be your last chance for poolside fun this year. Dollar Tree sells a range of pool essentials, including inflatable swim rings , pool noodles and toys, for $1.25. At Walmart, prices are much higher. The cheapest pool tube is $6.50, and pool noodles are $3.48 each. Walmart also sells a pool noodle chair for $9.98 on sale, but a very similar noodle chair is a fraction of the price ($1.25) at Dollar Tree.
