GOBankingRates found out from some parents and shopping experts what are the best items to buy at Five Below before Halloween. Load up your cart with these treats.

Money mistakes the super wealthy never make - that you might be doing now.

    Glow Sticks

    • Price: $5

“As a mother of two young children, I’m always on the hunt for affordable Halloween decorations and costumes at Five Below,” said Amanda Schmitt, a mommy blogger for Life As Mama .

“Glow sticks are perfect for lighting up pumpkins or lining walkways,” Schmitt said.

Schmitt added that you can get plenty of them at a good price. Five Below currently sells a 100-pack of glow sticks for just $5.

    Trick-or-Treat Buckets

    • Price: $1 to $5

Andy Bissonette, a parent, highlighted how Five Below has buckets that are a necessity for any event around the days leading up to Halloween. Right now, the store carries a variety, including these plush pumpkin baskets for $5, but there is a variety of other baskets for less.

Silvia Lupone, a mom and the business owner of Stingray Villa in Cozumel , agreed: “There are strong-colored candy buckets sold by this store which make excellent trick-or-treating devices. There are many designs including traditional pumpkins among others which are modern looking as well as interesting ones at the same time. Their size is suitable enough for children to carry without being too heavy and their durable plastic material will take them throughout the night.”

“These cannot be torn as easily as other bags which could easily develop a tear when carrying candies especially when done enthusiastically,” Bissonette said. “It was also suggested that they are great for Halloween-themed storage.”

    Costumes

    • Price: $5-$15

For costumes, Five Below has a variety of character masks , capes, wands and other accessories for under $5 that you can mix and match, according to Schmitt.

“My daughters love to piece together their own unique costumes from these items,” Schmitt shared. “They also often have complete costume sets for popular characters like princesses, pirates or superheroes for only $10 to $15.”

    Candy

    • Price: $1 to $5

When it comes to shopping for the treats of Halloween , Eric Sornoso, co-founder of Mealfan , as well as a parent and shopping enthusiast, said that he is “always tempted to buy candy and sweets early.

“For this, Five Below has everything you need at a lower price than other stores,” Sornoso said.

“Whether you are looking for elegant boxed chocolates, plain favorites like Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Mars, Galaxy, etc., or novelty sweets like dinosaurs, pirates, or sea creatures, you can get all types of goodies here in plentiful quantities to keep your little ones happy without breaking the bank,” Sornoso shared.

    Halloween Decor

    • Price: $1 and up

Some other favorites of Schmitt’s are the plastic tablecloths that transform any space into a creepy scene and the decorative pumpkins which, Schmitt said, “provide a perfect canvas for spooky decorating without the mess of real pumpkins.”

“At these prices, you can grab extras to use for parties, classrooms or to donate to schools and community centers,” Schmitt said.

“Five Below has so many affordable Halloween essentials that with a little creativity you can decorate your whole house or outfit your family for just $20-$30,” Schmitt concluded, noting that their selection changes each season too, so there’s always something new to find.
