According to recent studies, travel is a big priority for Gen Zers despite larger economic concerns. A report from Skift found that many Gen Z travelers are willing to cut expenses in other areas to accommodate their travel needs, and Thrillist reported that 18% of Gen Z travelers will spend nearly 40% of their disposable income on travel.

Gen Z would rather spend money on experiences and travel than materialistic purchases. However, with a typical Gen Zer’s average household income at only around $40,000, many young travelers are seeking ways to save the most money on vacation. Frugal habits of Gen Z travelers include opting for alternative forms of transportation (such as riding the train instead of flying), drinking less and using social media to look for the best deals.

Another way for Gen Z individuals to save money on travel is by knowing which destinations are the most affordable. Jill McElroy is the director of marketing at StudentUniverse , an online travel marketplace that caters to students and young adults. Based on data from StudentUniverse, here are the destinations that McElroy said are the cheapest for Gen Z travelers .
