What inspired you to join Taskrabbit, especially in retirement?

I retired almost 10 years ago. Retirement can be exceptionally fulfilling and also challenging. The lack of structure as well as no income is a truly challenging experience. We are told to save, save, save for retirement and that’s what I did.

However, making the change from saving to spending is mind-blowing. It’s the exact opposite of what I had been doing for over 50 years and it didn’t feel very comfortable or natural.

That being said, Taskrabbit has not only provided the structure I sought, but also reduced the stress of not having an ongoing income other than Social Security and savings.

You’ve completed more than a thousand tasks and even have an Elite Tasker badge on your profile. Do you have any tasks that are your favorites to work on or that you excel at?

I only do Ikea assembly as well as general furniture assembly. I work on these tasks almost daily. Having completed over a thousand Ikea assembly tasks, I have developed the expertise to excel at this work. Reposition creates proficiency and efficiency.

For his services, a Taskrabbit representative told GOBankingRates that Dan W. charges around $47 per hour. This, the Taskrabbit representative said, has translated to thousands in annual income for Dan W. since he joined Taskrabbit in 2021.

Many retirees reading will likely be inspired and want to emulate your Tasker path in retirement. What advice would you give retirees who want to make the most money as a Tasker?

Tasking for Taskrabbit is a great opportunity to remain active, challenge yourself with new skills and provide an opportunity to earn reasonable income while remaining active and staying in touch with others. Clients are very, very appreciative of the job that Taskers perform. They either don’t have the tools, skills or desire to assemble their furniture, and the Tasker satisfies a real need.

My profession exposed me to people every day. Colleagues and clients. This side gig helps me to remain social and keeps me in touch with people which can be important for retirees.
