Are you shopping at Big Lots this fall? If so, you probably already know you can find a lot of great deals on seasonal items. From home decor to toys and games for the whole family, this discount retailer has (nearly) everything you need.

But sometimes having too many options can be overwhelming. That’s why GOBankingRates asked a couple of shopping experts what they’re getting from Big Lots this fall .

Money mistakes the super wealthy never make - that you might be doing now.

    Blankets

Blankets are a must-have in the fall, and not just for staying warm. Some of them, like the throws you can find at Big Lots, add a unique touch to your living space.

“As a mom of two little ones, fall shopping at Big Lots is always on my list,” said Amanda Schmitt, shopping expert and founder of Life As Mama . “Big Lots has the best deals on soft, cozy blankets for family movie nights and bedtime. For $10 to $15, you can get a plush throw that will keep you warm all season.”

You can even find throw blankets for less. This brown plaid plush throw blanket , for example, cost $4.99.

If you want something a little heavier, Big Lots has some of heavy-duty blankets, too. For instance, this queen-size corduroy comforter is just $29.99. You can also get complete bedding sets for around $50.

“A comfortable, warm blanket is essential for relaxing on the couch watching football or cozying up with a good book,” Schmitt said.

    Sheets

Speaking of bedding, Schmitt said flannel sheets are another item on her list of fall buys.

“I love slipping into bed with flannel sheets after a long day,” she said.

If you can’t find flannel sheets at your local store, or if you prefer something lighter, Big Lots has quite a few microfiber sheets as well. These are generally around $10 to $20 for a set, which includes pillowcases, a fitted sheet and a flat sheet.

    Fall Decor

Naturally, fall is the perfect time to bring out the fall-themed decorations for your home. But if you don’t have much, or if you want something new, the shopping experts have some suggestions.

“One of my favorite decor items to decorate my front porch and patio with in the fall are straw bales,” said Brett Bennett, shopping expert and director of operations at PURCOR Pest Solutions. “These are such an easy way to instantly appeal to the fall season, and you can get creative by doing things like placing your pumpkins on top of them. I consistently find that Big Lots has the best price for straw bales. You don’t want to have to spend very much on them; so, if you go to Big Lots, you can get them for just a few bucks.”

Schmitt had a few additions of her own.

“To give my home a fall feel without a big overhaul, I look for decorative accents like wreaths, garlands, statue decor and wall art,” she said. “Big Lots always has a great, budget-friendly selection.”

Other seasonal decor she looks for at Big Lots includes things like wreaths, garlands, rustic wood signs, baskets and decorative pumpkins. Many of these cost just $5 to $15.

    Candles

Candles — especially ones that smell like pumpkin, vanilla or cinnamon — are also high on Schmitt’s list.

“Nothing says fall like the smell of pumpkin spice,” she said. “Big Lots carries Yankee Candle pumpkin-scented candles that fill my home with the scent of autumn.”

    Basic Apparel and Accessories

If you don’t want to spend a ton on clothes, you can also grab some fall apparel at Big Lots.

“For my two little girls, I stock up on leggings, sweaters, scarves and other staples for the cooler weather,” Schmitt said. “Big Lots frequently has great deals on Carter’s and other name brands.”

Thanks to the budget-friendly prices, she also goes to the store for back-to-school clothes — including winter attire such as hats, gloves and coats. Some items, like leggings (for adults) , cost around $10. Kids clothes, like these Disney pajamas , can go for even less than that.

The selection does vary based on where you live, so keep that in mind.

    Toys and Games

If you’ve got little ones at home, you’re probably always on the lookout for new toys or games for them — especially in the cooler seasons when they’re indoors a lot. While kids can be picky and their tastes can change quickly, Big Lots is still a good place to shop for lower-priced items.

“I always find unique, engaging toys there for great prices, usually 40% to 60% off retail,” Schmitt said. “Things like kinetic sand, magnetic tiles and card games are always a hit.”

    Kitchen and Pantry Items

Finally, Schmitt shared how she gets some basic kitchen staples from Big Lots around this time of the year.

“In the fall, I love pancakes, waffles, muffins and other cozy breakfast foods,” she said. “Big Lots often has good deals on syrups, mixes and other pantry staples which come in handy.”

As for other kitchen items, she looks for deals on things like stand mixers and pie pans — things that let her cook and bake more in the fall season.
