WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – It’s a new chapter for the Dam Jam Music Festival, which is now being held in Goddard. Thousands of concertgoers were in full attendance at this year’s event.

Dam Jam claims to be the biggest summer party in Kansas, and for those who went beyond the party, it’s a great opportunity to see artists perform that maybe not everyone knows about.

“There’s a lot of artists that just end up here in the Midwest; we’ve been able to see a whole big variety of different people. It’s been really good,” festival attendee Lee Gareto said.

Safety concerns for the public prompted the move to Goddard from last year’s site at Lake Afton, and the people who have attended say they felt safe and enjoyed the area.

“They have lots of officers and firefighters and security and such time and they’re patrolling all the time,” said festival attendee Hollie Gorben. “I think it’s a good location. It’s very open, and I think having it at a private location versus Afton kind of gives a little more I don’t know of its own vibe.”

People who had questions about what the atmosphere would be like for the festival had answered.

“We’ve been to some bigger concert venues, here’s been just really laid back. Everybody’s really nice,” said Gareto.

The excitement from this year’s event already has people gearing up for what’s to come next year.

“We have actually started talking about buying tickets for next year and doing this up more often cuz it is fun,” said Gorben.
