Carley Cotner wants to talk about death — and she wants Bloomington-Normal to join her. She said she took training to become a Death or End-of-Life Doula, so she can host death cafes in town for people who feel the same way.
Good News For Students Of Lockport Township High School Central Campus
Superintendent of Lockport Township High School District 205 Bob McBride shared a video on the progress being made at the Central Campus following a ceiling collapse at the school last November. The good news is that Lockport High School Central campus will welcome students back to the school on Monday, August 19th. Following the roof collapse an inspection of all 379 rooms were either repaired or deemed safe.
With Interstate 55 Closure, Intermodals Have To Logistically Navigate Reroutes
Interstate 55 is going to be closed for quite some time, and for some entities, that doesn’t mean they can just relax. Trucks keep the world moving. CenterPoint, the closest intermodal to the I-55 and Arsenal Road interchange, is having to shift their focus from using I-55, to navigating over to I-80 as a bypass. Spokesman Mike Noonan said “we’re not aware of any operations impact at Joliet/Elwood due to the storm. The Houbolt Road Extension is operating normally and likely seeing an uptick in volume.”
Girl, 11, among 5 juveniles charged in violent attack, robbery on CTA train
CHICAGO - An 11-year-old girl and four other juveniles were charged in a violent attack that happened on a CTA train in the Loop last week. The incident occurred on July 8 on an Orange Line train. According to police, the group of at least 10 young people approached the male victim, engaged him in a physical altercation and then forcibly took his debit card.
Panel okays restaurant for Irving Woods, 82 units for Edison Park but delays 6 Corners plan again
The City Council Zoning Committee at its July 16 meeting approved a proposed restaurant at 8235-37 W. Irving Park Road and an 82-unit development at 6750-60 N. Northwest Hwy. but delayed for the sixth time a hearing on the redevelopment of the former Peoples Gas site at 3955 N. Kilpatrick Ave.

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (CBS) -- A meeting of the Thornton Township Board grew heated Tuesday night, as the embattled board supervisor squared off with members of the board over spending.Thornton Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard was accused by board members of keeping certain items off the agenda Tuesday night—including an ordinance that board members say would cap spending by the supervisor and also to minimize non-approved spending. As a result, some board members refused to approve the hiring of landscaping contractors for the township. Henyard is also the mayor of Dolton, and is the subject of lawsuits and investigations. Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot in April agreed to investigate Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard amid claims that Henyard misused public funds—and the Dolton Village Board overrode a veto by Henyard f that investigation.The FBI also served two subpoenas to the village earlier this year—in a probe many believe centers around Henyard and her lack of transparency.Other scandals have also plagued the south suburban village lately.
