    Veterans come to aid of vandalized US Marines memorial in Golden

    GOLDEN, Colo. (KDVR) — A group of U.S. Marine Corps veterans have come together to repair a vandalized memorial .

    Authorities believe the U.S. Marine Corps memorial was defaced either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The memorial is located at the corner of 6th Avenue and Colfax Avenue, in Golden.

    Scott Kulp, a Marine Corps veteran and president of Colorado Power Clean, caught word of the vandalism and power-washed the red paint off the memorial at no charge.

    “I would love to find out who did that and make sure they’re punished to the full extent of the law,” Kulp said.

    No citations have been issued or arrests made. Home Depot donated materials to help with the removal effort.

    The 47th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps Memorial will take place on Aug. 24.
