Actor and activist Benjamin Bratt received an honorary doctorate degree from San Francisco State University during its commencement ceremony at Oracle Park on Friday night. Bratt was recognized for his extensive community activism and service, alongside his celebrated acting career, which includes notable roles in television series such as "Law & Order."

Addressing more than 4,000 graduates, Bratt shared his personal journey of growing up poor in San Francisco, raised by a single mother along with his four siblings. He emphasized the transformative power of education and the importance of the support and belief from others in their success.

“Enjoy the power of a university education and the privilege of someone else's belief in you,” Bratt urged the graduates, encouraging them to leverage their education to make a positive impact in their communities.
