The eagerly anticipated Foothill Gold Line extension project, which will connect Glendora to Pomona, is swiftly approaching completion, with officials announcing that the project is now about 85% finished and on track to be operational by early 2025.

Spanning 9.1 miles, the extension project has been a focal point for transportation development in the San Gabriel Valley. As of Monday, officials confirmed that the project is less than eight months away from completion.

According to Foothill Gold Line (FGL) officials, once finished, the railway will be turned over for use by LA Metro, marking a significant milestone in the region's public transit network.

Work on the extension has included the construction of four new stations in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, and Pomona. Each station is equipped with associated parking facilities and amenities catering to riders arriving by bike, car, bus, or foot.

Recent milestones achieved by construction crews include the completion of the train control system installation. This system, one of three essential elements for the light rail system, will monitor train movement, provide alerts to personnel, and control crossing gates and signals.
