The US National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a weather advisory for travelers in the northern Sierra Nevada. Local heavy rain is expected to impact the region through the remainder of the afternoon, primarily affecting areas north of I-80.

Key locations include the Highway 49 pass east of Downieville, near Bassetts and Sierra City.

Motorists are advised to watch for ponding on roadways and potential hail accumulations. The weather service also highlighted a 10-15% chance of isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, which will stay south of Highway 50 and remain along the Sierra crest. These storms are expected to be wet and fast-moving.
