The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for today, with temperatures in Las Vegas potentially reaching 114 degrees, tying the record for August 6.

The warning remains in effect until 9 PM tonight. Alongside the heat, there's a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms in southern Mohave County and the lower Colorado River Valley late this afternoon and evening, with the primary concern being damaging winds.

Thunderstorm activity is expected to spread into the eastern Mojave Desert by Wednesday, with a modest increase in monsoonal moisture leading to slightly moderated temperatures, though still above normal.
