This morning, a motorcyclist was stopped by a California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz Office traffic officer for speeding over 100 MPH on southbound Highway 1, the department stated.

The rider was cited for driving at excessive speeds under 22348(b) California Vehicle Code and for operating a motorcycle without a valid endorsement.

    The motorcycle was also towed.

California Highway Patrol Santa Cruz office traffic officers reminded drivers to adhere to speed limits for their safety and the safety of others on the road.

"Just a friendly reminder: Slow down!" the office stated. "There’s absolutely nothing wrong with driving the speed limit. In fact, it can save your life. Safety first, always!"
