Record Temperatures Hit San Joaquin Valley, Cooling Trend Expected Next Week

Several cities in California's San Joaquin Valley experienced record-breaking heat on August 7th, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Hanford. Madera, Hanford, and Bakersfield all set new record maximum temperatures, while Fresno recorded one of its top three hottest temperatures for this date. Merced also saw its sixth-highest temperature on record for August 7th.

Typically, high temperatures in the San Joaquin Valley during this time of year range from 95 to 98 degrees. The extreme heat marks an unusually hot spell for the region. However, relief is on the way, with a cooling trend expected to bring temperatures back down to more typical levels early next week.
