The Los Angeles area experienced slightly cooler temperatures today, thanks to increased onshore flow bringing cooler air to the coast and valleys. This trend was noticeable as marine layer stratus filled in across coastal regions, leading to a cooler start to the day.

However, this brief respite from the heat won't last long. The National Weather Service reports that a warming trend is expected to return on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 105°F in far interior areas. By next week, cooler temperatures are anticipated once again as a trough of low pressure moves in, replacing the ridge along the West Coast.

Residents in the Salinas Valley saw a significant temperature drop of 12 degrees yesterday, though some recovery is expected today.
