The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an updated forecast for the San Francisco Bay Area, highlighting a gradual cooling trend that will begin Sunday and continue into early next week. While inland areas continue to experience hot temperatures, a weakening ridge is expected to allow for a deeper marine layer, leading to cooler conditions.

For today and Saturday, the forecast calls for a rinse-and-repeat pattern with low clouds developing tonight and persisting into Saturday morning. Inland areas will see highs in the 80s to 90s, with some mountain ranges reaching the 100s. Coastal areas will remain mild, with temperatures ranging from the high 50s to low 60s.

As the trough builds and onshore breezes strengthen, expect slightly cooler temperatures by Saturday, with only a 1-3 degree drop in maximum temperatures. This trend is expected to continue, bringing relief from the heat by early next week.
