After enduring a stretch of intense summer heat, residents in Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto are enjoying a slight reprieve as temperatures fell just below the triple-digit mark for the second consecutive day.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento, today's high in Sacramento reached 99°F, while Stockton recorded 98°F, and Modesto hit 99°F.

While the drop in temperature is a welcome relief for many, other parts of Northern California continued to experience scorching conditions.

Redding topped the charts at 103°F, followed by Red Bluff at 101°F, and Oroville and Vacaville both reaching 102°F. Marysville also hit the 100°F mark, while Tracy and Fairfield recorded slightly cooler temperatures of 96°F and 92°F, respectively.
