In a decisive move, hotel workers in San Francisco voted by a resounding 94% to authorize a strike at eight prominent Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriott properties in the city.

The vote, which covers 3,000 workers represented by the UNITE HERE Local 2 union, reflects mounting frustrations over stalled negotiations for better wages, manageable workloads, and enhanced protections for staff, the union stated.

    No walkout has been announced.

The vote gives the union’s negotiating committee to call a strike at any moment after the current contracts expire on August 14, 2024.

The properties affected include some of San Francisco's most notable hotels: Grand Hyatt Union Square, Hilton Union Square, Hyatt Regency at Embarcadero, Marriott Marquis, Marriott Union Square, Palace Hotel, Parc 55, and Westin St. Francis.
