The Bay Area is set to experience another day of hot temperatures inland today, with relief expected to arrive starting Sunday as a significant cooling trend begins, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco.

The current weather pattern is dominated by a weakening ridge, which continues to bring warm weather across the region. Today's conditions are expected to mirror those of yesterday, with widespread morning stratus (low clouds) in the valleys and breezy winds in the afternoon and evening. Inland areas will see high temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to mid-90s, with the warmest spots reaching between 100 and 105 degrees. In contrast, the Bayshore will experience more moderate temperatures, ranging from the 70s to lower 80s, while the Pacific coast will remain cooler, with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s.

Overnight, temperatures will dip into the 50s and low 60s in the valleys, with thermal belts seeing lows in the mid-70s.

The NWS forecast indicates that a cooling trend will begin on Sunday as an upper-level trough forms across the West Coast. This shift will bring a drop in inland temperatures, with highs expected to range from the upper 70s to lower 90s, though some areas of the Central Coast may still see highs near 100 degrees. The cooling will continue into the beginning of the work week, with inland temperatures expected to bottom out in the mid-70s to upper 80s by mid-week. Coastal regions are likely to remain stable, with temperatures holding in the mid-50s to mid-60s.
