The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Francisco has issued a forecast predicting a notable drop in temperatures across the California Central Coast beginning today, with cooler-than-average temperatures expected to persist throughout the week.

A developing trough over the Pacific is expected to deepen and approach the central coast tonight and tomorrow. Inland areas have already experienced a five-degree temperature drop today compared to yesterday, with an additional five-degree drop anticipated by Monday evening. Low marine stratus and fog are expected to fill low-lying coastal areas and valleys during this period.

While a brief warm-up is possible on Wednesday due to shortwave ridging, cooler temperatures are expected to return by Thursday as the ridge transitions to a trough, bringing breezy conditions to inland and coastal areas. The cooler weather is forecasted to continue into the weekend as the trough pattern remains over the region.

This shift marks a significant departure from the seasonally warm temperatures typical of August, offering a refreshing change for residents and visitors alike.
