Northern California residents can expect cooler temperatures and increasing humidity this week, according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento. High pressure is weakening, leading to a cooling trend and periods of breezy onshore winds.

As of Sunday afternoon, temperatures across interior Northern California are 2 to 5 degrees cooler than the same time yesterday, with the Delta area, including Fairfield and Travis AFB, experiencing a 12-degree drop.

A shortwave trough moving through the region on Monday will bring increased onshore flow and a slight chance of light precipitation in the higher elevations of the northern mountains. Elsewhere, expect increased cloud cover with continued dry conditions. Temperatures will range from the 80s to low 90s in the Valley and foothills, and 60s to mid-80s in the mountains.

A brief warm-up is expected on Wednesday, but overall, temperatures will remain near or below normal throughout the week.
