A slight cooling trend is expected across Southern California this week as a trough of lower pressure moves down the coast. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard reports that temperatures will gradually cool through midweek, with most areas seeing a 2 to 4-degree drop.

The trough will bring overnight and morning low clouds and fog along the coast, possibly extending into the lower valleys by Monday night. Inland areas, including the Antelope Valley and Highway 14 Corridor, can expect gusty winds of 20-35 mph during the afternoons and evenings, though these winds are not expected to reach advisory levels.

By Wednesday, temperatures may dip slightly below seasonal norms as the trough deepens. However, later in the week, the East Pacific High will reassert itself, potentially bringing a slight warm-up and stronger winds along the Santa Barbara South Coast.

Overall, expect clear skies away from the coast and a gradual decrease in temperatures through most of the week, with typical summer conditions returning by the weekend.
