The Las Vegas region is set to experience additional rounds of thunderstorms today and Monday as monsoonal moisture continues to flow into the area. According to the National Weather Service, these storms could bring heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and the potential for flash flooding, particularly in Clark, Lincoln, Mohave, and San Bernardino Counties.

A ridge of high pressure over the southwestern United States, combined with an inverted trough over the Baja Peninsula, is drawing in moisture with precipitable water values ranging from 1 to 1.8 inches. This moisture, coupled with sufficient instability, is expected to trigger thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Northern Mohave County is particularly at risk for strong storms.

Storms that develop may linger into the night as outflow boundaries collide, creating conditions for new storm formation. The primary concern is heavy rainfall due to slow-moving storms, which could lead to flash flooding in some areas. Gusty winds and frequent lightning are also possible with the strongest storms.

A similar pattern is expected on Monday, though storm coverage may begin to decrease in the evening as drier air moves into the region, bringing temperatures closer to normal for this time of year. Outside of the storm activity, breezy southerly winds are anticipated due to the pressure gradient created by the inverted trough. Residents are advised to stay alert for weather updates and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
