In a significant crackdown on illegal cannabis operations, California's Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce (UCETF), under the direction of Governor Gavin Newsom, seized more than 2.2 million illegal cannabis packages. The items, falsely marked with California’s official cannabis seal, were found in the Los Angeles Toy District.

The illegal packaging was particularly alarming as many products were designed to resemble popular food and candy brands, such as Twinkies and Sweet Tarts, which could easily attract children. This operation underscores the state's commitment to maintaining the safety and integrity of its legal cannabis market while protecting children from exposure to harmful substances.

Governor Newsom emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating, "California is committed to supporting our safe and legal cannabis market. We will not tolerate criminal activity that undermines the legal market, especially when it puts children at risk."

Since January, the taskforce has seized over $120 million in illegal cannabis products, signaling a strong stance against those who choose to operate outside the regulated industry.
