The National Weather Service is predicting below-average temperatures for Northern California this week and weekend.

Inland areas, particularly in Mendocino and Lake counties, will experience gusty winds each afternoon. Coastal regions should expect occasional stratus and patchy fog through midweek.

Clear skies will give way to marine clouds tonight, with cooler air likely keeping inland temperatures slightly lower than today. There's a slight chance of thunderstorms in far northeastern Trinity County on Wednesday afternoon, though they are expected to be brief.

As an upper-level low approaches the coast, temperatures will remain near or below normal with generally dry conditions throughout the weekend.
