Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the allocation of $130.6 million in Homekey grants to nine communities across California, funding projects that will create 533 permanent supportive homes for nearly 4,900 individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This latest round of funding, part of California's ongoing effort to combat homelessness, supports projects in Merced, Richmond, San Francisco, Sebastopol, Orange County, Riverside County, San Mateo County, Kern County, and Sacramento County.

Since its launch in 2020, the Homekey initiative has provided $3.6 billion to support 259 projects, creating nearly 15,850 homes. This program, initially an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, has evolved into a key strategy for providing long-term housing solutions for vulnerable Californians.

Governor Newsom emphasized the state's commitment to partnering with local governments to tackle homelessness, highlighting over $40 billion invested in affordable housing since he took office. Today's funding continues this commitment, aiming to ensure all Californians have a place to call home.
