The French American International School (FAIS) and International High School, renowned for its bilingual and international education, has officially changed its name to The International School of San Francisco, effective immediately as the 2024-2025 academic year commences.

This rebranding reflects the school's dedication to its diverse international community while honoring its French bilingual heritage. Despite the name change, the school's foundational ethos and educational programs remain unchanged.

Founded in 1962, The International School of San Francisco is a leader in bilingual education and was the first institution west of the Mississippi—and the fourth in the U.S.—to adopt the prestigious International Baccalaureate program. As San Francisco's largest bilingual school, it continues to offer a unique blend of French and English education within a global context.

"Our bilingual heritage is deeply rooted, and we proudly maintain our status as San Francisco's largest bilingual school," said Head of School Melinda Bihn. "The new name better reflects our vibrant international community and our commitment to providing a global perspective in education."

The school's strong reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to preparing students for a complex world will persist under its new name, supporting students from across the Bay Area and beyond. French language skills are not required for admission to its early childhood and high school programs.
