The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 3 PM PDT today to 5 AM PDT Thursday for the Mojave Slopes and Indian Wells Valley. Gusts up to 50 mph are expected, prompting caution for high-profile vehicles traveling along Highway 14, Highway 178 below Walker Pass, and Highway 58 below Tehachapi Pass. Meanwhile, seasonal temperatures will continue through the week, with highs in the mid to upper 90s in the San Joaquin Valley and Coastal Range today. However, a cooling trend is anticipated as an upper-level trough moves southward into the Pacific Northwest, bringing below-average temperatures by Sunday.

Despite a slight improvement in humidity, the risk of grass fires remains high, particularly in eastern Kern County where relative humidity is forecasted to be below 10 percent. The strong winds combined with dry conditions could exacerbate fire risks. Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to slightly warm mid-week before potentially cooling again towards the end of August. The forecast remains variable, with future trends showing a possibility of a trough strengthening later in the month.
