The National Weather Service in Las Vegas reports a shift in weather patterns as the weekend approaches. Dry conditions and slightly above-average temperatures will persist through Friday, accompanied by afternoon breezes. However, changes are expected over the weekend, with eastern portions of the forecast area experiencing monsoonal moisture and a heightened chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Starting Saturday, a trough along the West Coast combined with an upper-level ridge to the east will lead to southerly winds aloft in the eastern regions, bringing increased moisture and storm chances. Northwestern Arizona, along with the higher terrains of Clark and Lincoln counties, will likely see the most significant afternoon convection through Monday.

In contrast, the western half of the forecast area will remain under dry and gusty conditions. Southwesterly winds will persist, causing relative humidity to drop to single digits and elevating fire weather concerns, particularly in Esmeralda and Nye counties. These dry conditions, coupled with gusty winds, could exacerbate fire risks over the weekend.
