The National Weather Service in Reno is forecasting breezy conditions and potential fire weather concerns for Northern California and Northwest Nevada this weekend. A deepening low-pressure system will bring stronger winds and reduced humidity, raising critical fire weather risks and creating choppy lake conditions.

On Saturday, gusts could exceed 35 mph, with the strongest winds expected across the Sierra and western Nevada. This system may also trigger light showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly near the Oregon border and in northern Washoe County.

Temperatures will remain seasonable, with highs in the 80s to 90s in western Nevada valleys and 60s to 70s in Sierra valleys. Frost is possible in Sierra valleys, with morning lows potentially dropping below freezing in areas like Martis Valley and Truckee. The weather will stabilize next week with typical afternoon breezes of 20-30 mph and dry conditions prevailing.
