On August 17th, National Thrift Shop Day, Goodwill invites shoppers to explore the excitement of finding unique vintage items while contributing to environmental sustainability. Thrift shopping not only offers affordable treasures but also helps keep usable goods out of landfills, Goodwill stated. Goodwill emphasized that every item purchased supports its local employment and job training programs.

For over 120 years, Goodwill has championed reuse and recycling, operating more than 3,300 retail and outlet stores, as well as ecommerce sites, the company stated. Last year, the organization diverted 4.3 billion pounds of goods from landfills, extending their life cycle, according to Goodwill.

Goodwill's mission goes beyond thrift shopping, the company stated. It provides crucial support to individuals through training, development, and job placement services. In 2023, Goodwill assisted over 1.7 million people in accessing employment and support, with nearly 400 people finding jobs daily through their centers, according to Goodwill.
